Abstract

Cultural adaptation is a translation technique which is made from the source language into the target language,  conveying the message naturally to make understandable the context of culture. The general objective of this research is to demonstrate the importance of the use of the cultural-linguistic adaptations in the dubbing from English to Mexican Spanish of the American film Yes, man directed by Peyton Reed. In the analysis we got several examples of the adaptations from the source language into the target language. We also identified different translation techniques as expansion, reduction, equivalence and adaptation used in the dubbing from English to Spanish.
