Editorial and Copyright Policies
1. Declaration of Originality and Preprints Authors submitting manuscripts to Verbum et Lingua guarantee that their works are original and unpublished, and that they have not been previously published in any form nor are they under simultaneous review in another journal. Preprints: Verbum et Lingua encourages open science and allows authors to deposit prior versions of their manuscripts (preprints) in institutional or thematic repositories before and during the peer-review process. If the article is ultimately accepted and published in Verbum et Lingua, authors are required to update the preprint record to include a link to the DOI (Digital Object Identifier) of the final published version in the journal.
2. Plagiarism and Redundant Publication Verbum et Lingua strictly adheres to the ethical guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) against plagiarism and redundant publication (self-plagiarism, duplication, data slicing, etc.). All manuscripts will be evaluated using similarity detection tools before initiating the peer-review process. Any form of plagiarism, undeclared use of Artificial Intelligence to generate substantive content, or redundant publication will be grounds for immediate desk rejection.
3. Copyright and Open Access Licenses Authors retain full copyright (both moral and economic rights) of their works without restrictions. Upon submitting their article, authors grant Verbum et Lingua (and the University of Guadalajara) the right of first publication.
All articles published in Verbum et Lingua are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license. This allows third parties to read, download, copy, and redistribute the material in any medium or format, and even adapt it, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author and the journal, and the material is not used for commercial purposes.
4. Self-Archiving and Additional Distribution Since authors retain their copyright, they have complete freedom to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., depositing it in an institutional repository, on academic networks such as ResearchGate, or on their personal website). In all such cases, it is mandatory to clearly and explicitly indicate that the work was first published in Verbum et Lingua, providing the full bibliographic reference and the link to the original DOI.
5. Cost Policy (Diamond Open Access Model) Verbum et Lingua is a Diamond Open Access scientific journal. No fees are charged to authors for manuscript submission, the peer-review process, typesetting, or the publication of their articles (Article Processing Charges - APCs). The entire publication process is completely free of charge.
