Abstract

The book presents six responses from organized society to insecurity, crime, and violence in Michoacán. The organized groups range from cultural activism to armed groups (self-defense groups), as well as collectives searching for missing persons and Local Citizen Security Councils, among others.

Evangelina Tapia Tovar, Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes, México

Doctora en Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades, Maestra en Investigación y Licenciada en Sociología. Docente e investigadora del Dpto. de Sociología y Antropología de la Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes. Miembro del SNI Nivel I. Miembro del Cuerpo Académico Estudios Socioculturales; del Consejo Académico y del Núcleo Académico Básico del Doctorado en Estudios Socioculturales. Miembro fundador de la comunidad PIRC. Representante institucional ante la Red de Estudios Interculturales y ante la Red de Género, Inclusión y Equidad Social, ambas de la Región Centro Occidente de la ANUIES. Sus líneas de investigación y sus publicaciones versan sobre temas de corrupción, género e interculturalidad, desde una perspectiva sociocultural.
