Riqueza de hormigas (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) en suelos salinos sometidos a tratamiento de electrorremediación

La salinidad en el suelo es uno de los principales factores que afecta su fertilidad, así como la abundancia y riqueza de organismos que ahí se encuentran, entre ellos las hormigas. En este trabajo se analizó la comunidad de hormigas presente en suelos del antiguo Lago de Texcoco antes y después de la aplicación de un tratamiento de electrorremediación química (TER), para rehabilitar los suelos en tres áreas con distinto grado de salinidad. En total se registraron siete especies de hormigas en el estudio. Las especies Pogonomymrex barbatus, Solenopsis aurea y Tapinoma sessile mostraron tolerancia a las condiciones de salinidad, así como al TER, ya que antes y después de su aplicación permanecieron en el área, mientras que Hyponopnera puctatissima y dos especies del género Pheidole resultaron ser más sensibles a la salinidad, y sólo se registraron después del TER. Finalmente, el TER mostró un efecto positivo en la comunidad de hormigas, sugiriendo que puede ser un buen método, ya que promueve la reincorporación de fauna edáfica con la que se acelera la recuperación y fertilidad de los suelos con altas concentraciones de sales.References
