ACARI: First records of water mites (Acari: Hydrachnidia) from Queretaro, Mexico (text in Spanish)

La fauna de ácaros acuáticos (Acari: Hydrachnidia) de México con 258 especies registradas, es una de las mejor conocidas respecto al resto de Latinoamérica. Sin embargo, dicho conocimiento es heterogéneo: dada la complejidad geológica, climática y biogeográfica del país, algunas regiones han sido mejor exploradas que otras, tal es el caso del sureste de México y la Costa del Golfo, a diferencia de la región Centro-Norte, para la cual prácticamente no existen datos. Durante el curso de ácaros acuáticos, impartido como actividad previa al Segundo Congreso Latinoamericano de Macroinvertebrados de Agua Dulce, celebrado en la ciudad de Querétaro, se muestreó en el Río Arroyo La Barranca (conocido como Río Escanela), en la Reserva de la Biósfera Sierra Gorda de Querétaro. En total se obtuvieron 112 individuos pertenecientes a los géneros Hydrodroma, Protzia, Sperchon, Torrenticola, Atractides, Corticacarus, Mideopsis, Aturus, Woolastookia y Axonopsis, representando a siete familias de ácaros acuáticos. Los ejemplares recolectados constituyen los primeros registros de Hydrachnidia para el estado de Querétaro y el primer registro del género Protzia para México. Nuestros resultados, a pesar de que la recolecta tenía únicamente fines docentes, indican una clara separación de la fauna de los diferentes microambientes y exponen la diversidad potencial de ácaros acuáticos que aún no se describe o registra en ésta y otras regiones de México.Downloads
