Se analizó composición de los escarabajos de las familias Silphidae y Scarabaeidae en la Estación científica las Joyas, Sierra de Manantlán, durante un año de colectas mensuales, empleando necrotrampas permanentes NTP-80 en dos sitios con bosque de pino: uno dañado por un incendio de copa en 1983 a 2,000 msnm y otro no dañado a 2,100 msnm. Se colectó un total de 2,157 individuos de los que 1,047 pertenecieron a la familia silphidae (48.5%) y 1,110 a la familia Scarabaeidae (51.5%). La familia Silphidae estuvo constituida por tres especies: Nicrophorus mexicanus Matthews, N. olidus Matthews y Oxelytrum discicolle (Brulle). La familia Scarabaeidae estuvo representada por cinco especies: Onthophagus chevrolati chevrolati Harold. Onthophagus sp. Canthidium sp. nov., Copris armatus Harold y Oniticellus rhinocerulus (Bates).Downloads
